There are many ways to define a single process. Building Information Modeling (BIM) is more popularly defined as process by which a 3-D/4-D models are created by the design team and construction teams. These models are then integrated and coordinated throughout the entire process from design thru construction. Objectives can include 3-D models, 2-D permit-able drawings, specifications, fabrication models, construction schedule, as-built model and FM model for the owners.
